SEO or Search Engine Optimisation, is the process of designing and updating a website such that it is likely to show up in organic listings for user queries. It is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a website from search engines via "organic" or "algorithmic" search results. Generally, the higher a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will get. SEO is very specific marketing, meaning it is how to appear at the top of the search results page. SEO basics are identifying target keyphrases, including the keyphrases in the page, and getting links to the site. If the basics are followed then the website should appear higher in the search results and therefore provide the people searching with the relevant information. Search engines define their results though two processes, indexation and ranking. Google uses bots, like virtual spiders, to find websites for their search results. You need to submit a page, unless they are linked to other indexed pages because they are then found automatically. Bots look at the different aspects of a page to analyse it. For every page that is indexed, it is then ranked. The higher the ranking of the page, the higher it appears on the results page. I will now discuss some of the Do's and the Don'ts...
